UNDERGRADUATE
COURSES
The department
offers two compulsory courses in chemistry as an integral part of the curriculum
of the engineering degree courses in the 1st & 2nd semester.
Emphasis is laid on the basic principles of Chemistry and
their applications in engineering disciplines. Extensive laboratory training
is imparted to the students on analysis of various engineering materials.
ELECTIVES
The department offers following electives to B.Tech.
students of the 7th and 8th semesters:
1)Metals and alloys
2)Chemistry of insulating materials
3)Polymer technology
LABORATORY
FACILITIES
The facilities include:
1)Under-Graduate laboratory for qualitative and quantitative
analysis of the sample salts, alloys etc.
2)Inorganic and Organic research lab
3)Physical research laboratory
4)Dark room for light scattering polarography and
spectrophotometric experiments and research of work
RESEARCH FACILITIES
Research facilities leading to the degree of Doctor
of Philosophy exist in the department. At present,
members of the staff are exploring the following
fields:
1)Bio-inorganic chemistry
2)Co-ordination compounds
3)Spectroscopy
4)Magnetism
5)Polymer Chemistry
CONSULTANCY/INDUSTRIAL COLLABORATION
The department offers consultancy service and advice
to chemical industries in the region. Chemical testing of water, soil and
gas samples can be undertaken by the department.
