ISTE (Indian Society for Technical Education) is a Premier Society of Technical Educationists and students. It endeavours to better the quality of education and preparation of students of Technical colleges to face challenges in life. ISTE places importance on overall development of students' faculties thus preparing them for a better career.

The ISTE Students Chapter REC, Kurukshetra aims to fulfill the laudable goals of the ISTE. It is involved in organizing various Technical Events and in encouraging students to come out with the best in them.

In the session 2002-2003 the chapter organized the regular activities

• Counselling Programme for First Year students
• Essay writing competition for First Year students
• Mock CAT ( To give CAT aspirants a feel of it)
• Mock Campus ( The test papers not unlike tests conducted during Campus Placements)
• Group Discussion Workshop ( A comprehensive review of GD strategy by Dr. P. J. Philip)

Apart from the above regular events the chapter had many first's this year

• Launch of first LINUX USER's GROUP the ISTE-LUG in Haryana
• Conduct of CAT -99 like test by ISTE students chapter in association with IMS learning resources Ltd.
• Installation of Linux Operating System on several workstations in various Computer centres of N.I.T. by volunteers of ISTE-LUG.
• Various meetings of Linux User's Group benefiting its members by free flow of information.
